NOTE TIME CHANGE: Tuesdays, 7:00 - 8:30 PM Prerequisites: Youth Acting: Intro or equivalent experience. If you are not sure which class is best for your student, please contact us to determine the best student placement. Youth Acting: Next Level is designed to build on the work of Youth Acting: Intro to Theater, further developing students’ understanding of movement, voice, staging, and teamwork. The Topic Focus for Fall 2023 is Monologues. Students will practice crafting unique and memorable characters with fleshed-out motivations, clearly-communicated stakes, plausible backstories, and strong choices. Students will be strongly encouraged to develop these skills through coached monologues. Students will also focus on line delivery, eye contact, tablework, and improv, through games, drills, and scenes. Students should expect some take-home work and will participate in an end-of-semester showcase during the last day of class (November 14), open to friends and family. * 13-year-olds are welcome in either our Youth Acting courses or our more advanced Taking the Stage course for teens, depending on the maturity and experience of the individual student. We encourage 13-year-olds brand new to theater to take our Youth Acting courses, and students with more exposure to classic texts and on stage experience to level up into our Taking the Stage course, but we are flexible based on the needs of the student. If you are not sure which class is best for your student, please contact us to determine the best student placement. Tuesdays, 7:00-8:30 PM Sept 12 - Nov 14
